Cloth backed silk covered boards, a little rubbed at corners and weak at the upper inner hinge and with a crease at lower corner of inner rear cover. JOHN FOWLES' COPY WITH HIS BOOKPLATE AND AN INITIALLED TYPED NOTE LAID IN referring to the book's previous owner, Frank Staff, whose bookplate is on the front endpaper, as being a well known Bridport book collector. Fowles also notes that he paid £295 for the book in 1996. Extremely scarce.
